I am rubbish at all other crafts, especially knitting, which Im so bad at, its painful. I'm known predominantly for my needle felting but I also spend a lot of time on painting and illustrations. As I find mice so incredibly cute, I'm planning many more of these mouse illustrations. Hope you like it! :)
The unconditional love between a Mother and child is one of the most
special and beautiful things in this world, and I wanted to somehow try
to capture that love in this illustration of this little mouse, holding
onto his Mother's hands (paws!) with the joy and contentment that a child feels when surrounded and protected by his or her Mother's love.

Printed
on luxury textured watercolour paper, which gives it a beautiful and
distinctive finish, and the highest archival standards.

Available in three sizes - 10 x 8 inches, 10 x 12 inches and 12 x 16 inches. Unmatted (not mounted) and unframed.
My needle felting mouse tutorial is now available as a PDF - that stands for Plop Document Format ;) in case you were wondering.

My friends, the fabulous fibre gurus, Lyn & Annie, at Rosiepink suggested to me ages ago that I should do this! But I've been so busy with orders, that I've only just found the time to do it!

The tutorial is available in my shop at this link Needle Felting Mouse Tutorial PDF by Mrs Plop's Shoppe
If you prefer a needle felting kit containing wool and felting
tools, I also stock needle felting kits. Both of these kits are suitable for beginners to needle felting.
I had great fun making these two little wedding cake topper mice. And until they've been sold, they're a lot of fun to have around. They're on our dresser and they now have lots of fans - when our friends come round, we can't seem to help singing 'We're getting married in the morning' in very high pitched mouse like voices. We all sound completely crazy, but I bet you'd do the same. Haha! :) We'll miss them when they go!

These two little mice are more in love and happier than any mice have ever been!
The
little bride mouse is wearing a handmade antique lace veil, with a
vintage pearl and pink rose tiara, and holding a bouquet of flowers. Her
groom is wearing his best waistcoat with vintage pearl button.

Please
note: The colour of the bride's flower and flower bouquet can be
changed to match the colour scheme of your wedding. Just send me a
message via my Etsy shop below, letting me know the colour you would like.

The groom measures approximately 6" tall. His bride is a little smaller, at about 5.5"
The width of both of them is approximately 4".

They are ready to ship, and to bring their love and happiness to your special wedding day.

Handmade with ethically produced, high quality British wool.

Available in my Etsy shop. Ok, I know it's not felting, but Mr Plop and I are very proud of our new product line. This is hand-painted by myself, not printed, so each one is completely unique and one of a kind.

When I finish the painting part, it's over to Mr Plop who does the sewing bit. Fab! because sewing really isn't my forte, but luckily Mr Plop is an expert! His ancestry is in the textile trade, his Grandparents owned a haberdashers shop and he was taught to sew when he was very young. Oddly, my ancestors were in the textile trade too! I only found out recently that my ancestors on my Father's side were all in the trade in the North of England. It's a shame I didn't inherit their finesse with a sewing needle, but I guess my roots have shown up in a roundabout way with my needle felting.

If you would like to order one of these cushions, you can see the listing in my Etsy shop here: OOAK Hand Painted Hare Cushion by Mr and Mrs PlopAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17637267115927473297noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5047398295925164442.post-15060918056042515552015-08-09T13:38:00.000-07:002015-08-09T13:41:02.021-07:00Miniature Felted Mouse, Miniature Painted BirdThis week I made another tiny needle felted harvest mouse who I named Maggie. I made her dress out of antique lace and I had some vintage 1920s sequins trim that I attached for her tiara.

Here is the reason she is named Maggie....

When harvest time is over, she has her own special harvest - She
collects antique beads and lace, and makes dresses and tiaras out of
them. She loves to sew, and she loves anything shiny. This is how she
got the name Maggie, because she is like a little Magpie :)
She is for sale in my Etsy shop Maggie Harvest Mouse by Mrs Plop's Shoppe
I've also been painting - a lot. I haven't mentioned my painting on this blog, because here, I concentrate on needle felting. But I do have some of my paintings in my Etsy shop. Today I finished painting a miniature art canvas of a blue tit bird in acrylic. I LOVE painting!

Here is the blue tit miniature painting.....
He is also for sale in my Etsy shop: Miniature Art Canvas Blue Tit Bird by Mrs Plop's Shoppe
I'm supposed to be rubbish at knitting! It says so, right here at the top of my blog. But looook! I made a little knitted scarf. And not only that, it doesn't have any holes in it, it didn't start narrow and end up widening out, it's the same width all the way down! Ok, this won't be at all impressive to the knitters out there. But to me, it's a triumph! :D I'll have to change my blog sub-title now I suppose!

Anyway, the miniature scarf I knitted is for her ladyship, Lottie :)

Meet Lottie, the little needle felted lavender healing mouse. Lottie has
always known that lavender is very healing. She grows and harvests
lavender which she then administers to any of the mice in need of some
healing at Mrs Plop's HQ.

Lottie is made from very high quality British ethically produced wool. She is made to order in my Etsy shop. Here's the linky: Lottie the needle felted lavender mouse by Mrs Plop's Shoppe
Meet needle felted little Beatrice ballerina mouse. She found this
beautiful pink tulle tutu that her Aunty Linda at Fluffy Cloud Creations made. And now she's taking ballet lessons.

She tells
everyone she meets that she's going to be a famous ballerina one day.
she has little pink felted ballet shoes, and as you can see, she's
learning how to dance en pointe. Clever mouse :)

Beatrice has been lovingly handmade by me from very high quality British ethically produced wool fibre, and is available for sale in my Etsy shop here: Beatrice The Little Ballerina Mouse by Mrs Plop's Shoppe.
Meet Popcorn, the needle felted orange and white kitten.
The mouselings all got the first flight to Mouseling Island this morning
when they heard Popcorn was coming to stay! You know Mouseling Island,
where mice go when cats are around. Popcorn said she wouldn't hurt the mice and only wanted to be friendly, but with that naughty face, we're not buying it! :D Come home soon Mouselings!

Popcorn is available to buy in my Etsy shop. You can see her listing here: Popcorn The Needle Felted Kitten by Mrs Plop's Shoppe
Shocking! :D

So.....Meet little Wilfred the orphaned baby bear, he is the first of my new
'Plop Bear' series. I'll be making more over the coming months. Each one
will be one of a kind and completely unique.

Like all of my needle felted animals, Wilfred is made from 100% ethically produced high quality British wool.

Wilfred needs a new Mum, and is available in my Etsy shop here: Wilfred the needle felted orphaned teddy bear by Mrs Plop's Shoppe

I will be posting the next little bear in the series as soon as I have made him or her :)
As you no doubt already know, needle felting is a very time consuming art, and although my prices are in line with some other needle felters, it's nice to have something in my shop that costs a bit less but that doesn't compromise on quality. So, I made this teeny tiny little hamster.

I usually use a core wool for my felted animals, and then I felt in an outer 'fur' wool. But for this hamster, I didn't use core wool. Also, he doesn't have feet (hands and feet are one of the most time consuming parts for me. Some people use polymer clay feet or cut out hands and feet from a piece of ready made felt. I prefer the hands and feet to be needle felted) It doesn't make too much difference though, as he is still able to stand, and it means I was able to list him at a lower price. It was obviously still time consuming, but I did manage to cut back on the time it took to make him.

He is available to buy here in my Etsy shop: Needle Felted Tiny Little Summer Sunflower Hamster by Mrs Plop's Shoppe
whenever he sees anyone. He wants to make friends, but he is so shy, he
lives behind the watering can that is home to the Hydrangea flowers. We
are doing our best to coax him out to join the rest of us, and to
reassure him, and he is beginning to come out of his hiding place a bit
more, but these things take time.

If you would like a little Huckleberry Mouse, you can find him here in my Etsy shop, made to order.
I left it up for a few days, and then I panicked, and realised I didn't feel comfortable with it. It was too specific, and it wasn't the right time.

But this month, me and my husband bought a house for the very first time. It's a very strange experience, particularly when like me, you have been homeless in your earlier years.

Like so many people, we lived in rented accommodation for years. We just couldn't ever seem to be able to afford our own house, and for as long as I can remember, it was a dream for me, and it always seemed to be a pipe dream. The problem with rented housing is, that you never really feel it's home, well, I didn't at least. You're just paying for time in someone else's house. And I
always hated it. I felt that my own house was out of my league.....that I was chasing something that I could just
never have.

I don't know if everyone feels the same as me, or if it was enhanced by my former homelessness - When you've been homeless at an age when you should have had people looking after you - it gets into your very being, and you carry on feeling homeless inside. You have all those inner response triggers, set on 'homeless'. The sofa surfing, (it didn't have a buzz word in those days, unless you call it dossing, but that's not a good word!) The wandering around the streets for hours on end, the excuses you'd make up just to go and visit someone you knew, because the loneliness was unbearable. The worried anticipation you felt when you pictured the weary look on their face when they opened the door to you. Again. The apologising you do, for being there again. The stuttering, when you ask if you can stay the night.

Everyone else had days with their families, but when you're homeless, you only have you. That carries on into adult life, and you find that even when you're no longer that 'difficult homeless girl' you find yourself with some of the behaviours still left over. There are so many, (but the majority I won't mention here) someone invites you over for a cup of coffee, and you find yourself nervous about outstaying your welcome, so you leave way too early, and the other person thinks you don't like them! :D You spend way too much of your time browsing the houses in the estate agents windows/on the internet/in magazines, dreaming about how it would feel to live in this house or that house. You still wake up sweating from a nightmare where you were lonely and hungry and cold. And it goes on. Being homeless is one of the hardest things you can go through, and everyone has a story, a reason why they are homeless. It may not always be the reason you think.

Now my dream has come true, finally, amazingly. And I am sitting here typing this blog post from my own house! I have been here for just over two weeks, and a few days ago, I thought I hated it, I thought we had made a mistake. Now I realise that the homeless part of me was just adjusting.

Life is good.

Love,

The wool included in this kit is extremely
high quality 100% British ethically produced wool, from happy, well
cared for sheep that roam free on British farms. So they're very happy
little sheep. This is a very important thing to Mrs Plop! So, for that
reason, they're a teensy bit more than some felting kits, but worth it
to know how happy the sheep are that the wool has come from. The wool is
also sumptuous, springy, and a dream to felt with! It's the same wool
that Mrs Plop herself uses.

This kit includes (almost) everything you need to make your own little Fox friend.

The only thing that isn't included is a felting pad, so you will need to get yourself a felting pad before you begin.

The kit contains

Step by step full colour instructions
Foxy orange wool
White wool
Black wool
A lollypop stick (you'll see why when you receive your kit!)
Two felting needles. One straight, one spiral
Black cotton thread and a sewing needle

Also
included when you buy this needle felting kit - One month of free
needle felting support, (but no more than 8 emails in total. Mrs Plop is
over 200 years old, and when she's not felting, she does need her sleep
;0) ) in which you can contact Mrs Plop personally via email with any
questions you may have about the kit, or your needle felting progress in
general. The month's support begins from the date that your kit
arrives, so you need to let me know when you have received it. Further
details of the support service will be sent to you when you've made your
purchase.

Please take great care with the needles in this kit as they are very sharp!
I've been wanting to make one for such a long time, but orders, or domestic stuff or just life, kept getting in the way. I never set out to make anything for myself either, but I'm keeping this pony :)

I've been crazy about horses ever since I can remember. I started riding lessons at aged 4 years old. I used to spend every weekend (days and nights) at a riding school in Hampshire, South England, where I would work my tiny 4 year old socks off in return for riding lessons. We had to get up at 5am and start working in the yard; Mucking out, feeding the horses, turning the horses out into the field, tacking them up ready for a lesson, sweeping the yard and so on. I was particularly teeny tiny when I was 4, much smaller than most of my friends, and I can remember hauling huge buckets of water from the water tap to the stables.

I must have looked so funny - this tiny little person, struggling with a ridiculously heavy bucket, trying not to spill any onto the yard, and dragging massive bales of hay and straw around. The woman who owned the riding stables, was a formidable woman. She was the type of horse woman who I later realised was much like a lot of no nonsense attitude horse women. If you fell off, (and boy did I fall off) you were to get straight back on, and never ever let a tear form in your eye. Unless your head had fallen off, she didn't 'do' compassion. Although, deep down she did, she really did. Under her harsh exterior was a woman who understood that this might seem tough, but it was perfect for children, to develop confidence and strength.

I loved my time there! Even though I was exhausted, I was in my element. And looking back, I realise now that this is one of the things that gave me so much of my inner strength, which I have really needed as the years have gone by!

My love for horses just kept growing. I was lucky enough to have my first pony at the age of 11, and I became well and truly immersed in The Pony Club and all its various events. At aged 14, an interest in boys took over for a bit, until I realised they were really quite dull, and ponies were much better bet as companions :D

But a long period of living in London, meant that I couldn't have a horse, or even be near horses. I suddenly came to the realisation that I hated London and what on earth was I doing there? In this expensive and cold city, with no horses in sight?!

I moved to the westcountry, where I met my husband, and finally after a few more years, I kind of hinted blatantly that I might want another horse again. Well, actually, what I said was: I'm getting a horse. And that was it! There wasn't a lot the poor man could do about it :D

That was when Candy, a beautiful Palomino pony, came into my life. Anyone who follows my blog, or facebook page, may already know that my nickname for Candy was Mrs Plop. Hence my shop name 'Mrs Plop's Shoppe' As my beautiful girl is no longer with us :( So my shop name is in her memory.

Candy's owner didn't care about her. She was kept on a tiny patch of land on a housing estate, on the outskirts of a city. I am so thankful that I found her, as she was due to go to a slaughterhouse. So I took her home. Her owner just couldn't be bothered with her, she neglected her, and treated her very badly. She just 'wanted rid' of Candy, who she so wrongly just saw as 'a problem'

When people mistreat horses, and if it is bad enough, they will just 'shut down' emotionally. And this is what Candy had done. She had suffered so much, that she simply saw no reason why she should ever trust anyone again. She also, unsurprisingly, became very defensive. My husband found that out the hard way when he approached her in the wrong way and received a huge kick in the chest from her. He could see through all of that behaviour though, and he adored her, just as I did. (Don't worry, he was ok! The kick hurt, but she didn't do any damage!)

I kept Candy in her stable for a while after she arrived for the necessary veterinary treatment, worming, and dental treatment that she needed. When I did turn her out into the field, she firmly kept her distance. Everyone at the stable yard where I kept Candy thought it was hilariously funny that I had brought this pony to the yard. A pony that wanted nothing to do with anyone. They laughed even more when instead of trying to catch her, I just sat in her field with her, reading a book. "You'll never catch her like that!" They used to laughingly shout over to me as they rode past the field on their horses. I would just feign a smile and inwardly I'd say 'you'll see!'

Their idea of catching a 'difficult horse' was to corner it, to trap it. It was a totally different way of thinking to mine, and I saw no sense in it whatsoever. And I wasn't ever going to make Candy feel trapped! I knew that she would come to me in her own time, and that when she did, it was going to be her decision, her will, and because of that, there would never be an issue with bringing her in from the field again, because she would want to come in, not because I was forcing her! I am still horrified that the old adage of 'show your horse who's boss' still carries any weight at all in our modern world. I am no Monty Roberts, but to me, it is completely obvious! Be strong for your horse, so that he/she can trust you, and want to be with you. But be kind! Don't ever force, hit or bully your horse! Never! And yet, so many people still do. It's a no-brainer!

Anyway, back to my story. So, week after week I sat with Candy in the field, just reading. It looked, to an outsider, as though she was taking no notice whatsover of my presence, but I knew she was. And one day, she did come over to me. I had carrots waiting. She took them, and the very next day she followed me to the gate, and I took her into her stable, fed her in her stable, groomed her, and turned her straight back out again. After that, she always came running across the field to greet me, and there followed a relationship that I will treasure for the rest of my life. Love, Mrs Plop xxx
Make a needle felted mouse with Mrs Plop's needle felting 'Maisie' Mouse kit.
Maisie
is a little mouse who lives at Mouselings HQ here at Mrs Plop's Shoppe.
She loves to give flowers, and is holding a little posy of pink
flowers.

Suitable for beginners. Many people who purchased my mouse needle
felting kits had no previous experience, and reported back to me that
they found it easy.

Tutorial support by myself is also included in this kit.

This kit provides (almost) everything you need to make a
needle felted mouse. The only thing that isn't included is a felting
pad, so you will need to get yourself a felting pad before you begin.

The kit contains

Step by step full colour instructions

White core wool
Champagne outer fur wool
Pink wool for limbs, hands and feet.
(The wool contained in the kit is high quality, British ethically produced wool. It is the wool that Mrs Plop herself uses)

Two felting needles - One straight and one spiral.

Cotton thread in pink and black, plus a sewing needle.

Posy of pink paper flowers.

Also
included when you buy this needle felting kit - One month of free
needle felting support, (but no more than 8 emails in total. Mrs Plop is
over 200 years old, and when she's not felting, she does need her sleep
;0) ) in which you can contact Mrs Plop personally via email with any
questions you may have about the kit, or your needle felting progress in
general. The month's support begins from the date that your kit
arrives, so you need to let me know when you have received it. Further
details of the support service will be sent to you when you've made your
purchase.

Please take great care with the needles in this kit as they are very sharp!
She is a white needle felted rat, and she works at Mrs Plop's Butterfly Hospital as Chief Wing Mender.

She arrived - as always - surrounded by a cloud of butterflies, and they are now filling the house with their soft fluttering noises, and dashes of bright colour.

Madame Butterfly is adored by butterflies all over the world and never a day goes by when she is not covered in them :)
An actual website! The Mouselings are celebrating here at Mouselings HQ, because we finally have a real website, and it's now live online!

Here 'tis: mrsplop.co.uk

The only thing we haven't quite worked out is the Woo Commerce bit. The Mouselings have been jumping up and down with frustration trying to get it to do what they want it to do, but so far, computer says no :D we'll get there in the end though!

So for now, the 'shop' linky bit goes to my Etsy shop until we've figured it all out and the Mouselings have stopped giggling at the name 'Woo' commerce. For some reason, they think it's hysterically funny, and then they can't work because they're giggling too much.

We hope you all had a wonderfully ploppy christmas!

Love
I've got an addictive personality, so I don't know why I didn't see this coming. The trouble is though, I've got an issue with my eyes. I told the doctor I needle felt, and he said my eyes are having problems because I'm doing too much 'close work'. How completely rubbish! Considering I'm now a felting addict (and probably have been for quite some time) It might help if I have my glasses checked though, as they're as old as the hills (ok, not quite that old, but you know what I mean)

Anyway, as you can see, I haven't listened to a word my doctor has said (apart from the glasses thing) and I've gone ahead and made a needle felted Samoyed dog. My dog, Betsy, made me laugh so much with her reaction to him! When I had finished making him, I put him on the coffee table, in front of where she was lying on the sofa. Her ears pricked up and she just couldn't stop staring at him. She must have thought....How on earth did you get to be so small? You strange dog!

Here are some pics of him....

Love as always, Mrs Plop xxx
But for one reason or another, I never seemed to get around to it.

But recently, I found the time to finally make one. He was great fun to make, and I used lots of great big wads of orangey red, brown and white wool fibre. I'm quite pleased with the result. I hope you like him!

I used ethically produced Dorset Down brown wool fibre from Newmoor Barn Ethical Fibre Co. It has lovely red tones within it. The white is Ryleand wool, also from the same company. The brown colour felts so well, it almost felts itself. I absolutely love it. The red berries are glass.
If you want to give this little mouse a home for Christmas, you can find him here in my Etsy shop. Needle Felted Little Christmas Mouse By Mrs Plop's Shoppe
He is a needle felted orphan otter. Poor Oliver! All he has in the whole world is his special rock :(

He needs lots and lots of love and cuddles. Orphans seem to be a bit of a theme for me....! But I need to try and balance it with some happier felted animals, poor Mr Plop nearly cried when he first saw Oliver! lol!

Oliver the otter's listing is here in my Etsy shop: Oliver The Orphan Otter by Mrs Plop's Shoppe
He's one of my more expensive felted animals because of the time it took to make him.

Love Mrs Plop xx
